NRG APEX IS HEADING TO GERMANY!

NRG APEX ARE GOING TO LAN-HEIM!

With a dominating performance when it mattered most, NRG Apex solidly secured their spot into the ALGS Stage 2 Playoffs and are heading to Mannheim, Germany later this Summer!

Qualification for the $1 million event didn’t come easy, with the trio of Nocturnal, FunFPS and Reptar sitting on the cutline heading into last Sunday’s ALGS NA Split 2 Finals. With only the top-12 teams in the overall standings earning a ticket to LAN, it would take a strong showing to earn enough points to maintain their spot over other teams eager to knock them out.

When it came time to prove themselves in Finals, the team delivered a massive statement, earning a pair of dominating back-to-back wins in Games 2 and 3 which saw NRG skyrocket up the leaderboards to first place. In this event, “Match Point Format” was employed, a format unique to competitive Apex where a team must first eclipse 50 total points, and then win the subsequent game afterwards to be crowned the champion. With the two game victories in hand, NRG were one of two teams who found themselves on Match Point after Game 4 alongside the NA heavyweights, Team Falcons.

Game 5 proved to be the finale, with NRG and Team Falcons both finding themselves in the end game as two of the remaining five teams in the lobby. With team fights and zone control pulling the way of Falcons, NRG were wiped out, and Falcons were able to clean up the last squads to earn the NA Finals championship. After a Game 6 played with the remaining 19 teams in the server for points reasons, NRG finished the event with a second-place finish in the Finals, and an 8th Place finish in the overall standings punching our ticket to Germany!

Summer action continues to heat up for NRG Apex, as they first will be heading to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the Esports World Cup on July 31-August 4. The $2 million event will feature 40 teams split into two groups of 20 for a total of 10 games in the group stage. Stay tuned to NRG Current for all the latest updates on NRG Apex!

NRG CS2 STARTS OFF STRONG

Monday night marked the return of the ESL Challengers Series and the debut of nitr0, who has made an immediate positive impact on NRG CS2!

Starting play in ECL against Limitless, the AWP of oSee and the IGL’ing of nitr0 carried the team to a strong 13-5 opening Map 1 on Anubis. On Dust2, it was the rifler HexT who was activated, racking up 21 kills in a 13-3 trashing that saw NRG earn a clean 2-0 sweep of their opponent.

Back in action on Tuesday, the team followed up Monday’s strong showing with another 2-0 sweep of Fluffy Aimers. It was another member of the team in Brehze who was locked in, earning an impressive 51 total kills split across the pair of maps which included a 13-1 dismantling on Dust2. Continuing play on Wednesday, NRG dismantled Mythic in quick order with a 13-2 victory on Anubis and a 13-16 victory on Dust2. Nitr0’s ability to lead the team has resulted in each member being able to focus on frags, with all members of the team sporting a positive kill-death ratio throughout the first six maps of ECL play.

To wrap up the week, NRG CS2 will play host to the Brazilian side E-Xolos later tonight at 6 PM PT before turning their attention to the NA Revival Cup this Saturday, where they will face off against BOSS in the quarterfinals. As always, stay tuned to NRG Current for all the latest scores and updates ahead!
